Floyd Chomba the women’s hockey national team coach has disclosed that he is eyeing the medal bracket at the Hockey 5s World Cup to be staged in Muscat, Oman.
Chomba’s team has been in camp at the OYDC Zambia preparing for the Hockey 5s World Cup in anticipation of facing countries like Australia, Ukraine, and South Africa in group B.
He says as the team leaves for Oman on Wednesday 17 January adding that all players have been declared fit for the competition.
OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer Dr Fredrick Chitangala has expressed gratitude that hockey players have continued to use the sports facility for their training and camping as they prepare for such international events.

Dr Chitangala says he is confident the girls will perform well in Oman.
Meanwhile, National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) Secretary General Boniface Kambikambi has urged the team to represent Zambia well and ensure that they bring the cup back home.
He says the NOCZ is happy to note hockey has become more popular in the country with many athletes wanting to join the sport. Kambikambi addressed the team at the OYDC Zambia during the send-off ceremony.
National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ) Sports Development Manager Lt. Col Gilbert Sinkamba says the council remains committed to showing support to associations who qualify their athletes for prestigious competitions such as the Hockey 5s World Cup.
Zambia Hockey Association general secretary Elvis Bwalya has paid gratitude to all the sponsors who have come on board to support the team. Bwalya says the World Cup will be very competitive adding that the team will do their level best to win the games.
