Youth, Sport and Arts Minister Hon. Elvis C. Nkandu, accompanied by Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Mr. Joel Kalusa and Acting Director of Sport Mr. Gibson Muyaule, toured Crocs Football Academy in Chamba Valley.
Crocs Football Academy proprietor, Mr. Lee Kawanu, took the delegation through the processes involved in operating artificial football turfs.
The tour aimed to enhance understanding of how artificial turfs are constructed and maintained to ensure their longevity.
He commended the idea of a football academy that incorporates both talent development and education, emphasizing its importance in shaping well-rounded athletes. Hon. Nkandu hailed the initiative, noting that such developments are key to nurturing a cadre of athletes who will not only represent the country at international level but also compete favourably.
The academy, which is still under construction, already has 100 young footballers enrolled. Once the school and other amenities are completed, it is expected to become a fully-fledged institution that combines academics with football development.
