PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says he cannot respond to the insults and threats directed at him in the political arena as he is different from those issuing such statements.

Speaking when he met 13 chiefs from across the country in Zambezi district yesterday, President Hichilema stated that he is aware of the insults and threats made by some politicians but has chosen not to react to promote peace in the country.

“For me unity is inside me. It’s the source of pleasure, that’s why you see, even politically, people insult, they issue threats, it’s like I haven’t heard, I have heard but I don’t want to react so I will be like them, then next, we will be fighting because that’s what some people want, we manage people differently,” he shared.

The President added that fighting each other cannot develop the country, citing examples of countries where there is conflict.

“Where there’s conflict, there’s no development, you have seen Russia, Ukraine, everything is going down, two great countries, everything is going down,” explained President Hichilema.

The Head of State further expressed gratitude to the chiefs for responding to his call for peace and unity in the country.

He revealed that the ongoing conflicts between the Luvale and Lunda people will soon be addressed.
