Ibrahim Kabwe Mwamba has announced he will contest the Mwembeshi parliamentary seat as an Independent Candidate in the 2026 general election.
In a statement issued today, Mwamba said the decision followed consultations with traditional leaders, church officials, and residents of Mwembeshi Constituency.
Mwamba said standing as an independent would allow him to represent the people directly, without party constraints, and focus on service delivery and development.
“In compliance with this decision, I have today paid my nomination fee to the Electoral Commission of Zambia and formally submitted my intention to contest in the 2026 general election,” he said.
Mwamba said he had resigned with immediate effect as National Youth Chairman of the Patriotic Front, in line with the constitutional requirement that parliamentary candidates must not belong to a political party.
He thanked the PF and the PF Pamodzi Alliance for the trust and opportunity to serve, and said it had been a privilege to contribute to youth mobilization and the growth of the party.
Mwamba added that his campaign will focus on youth empowerment, agricultural development, infrastructure improvement, and ensuring government services reach every ward in Mwembeshi.
“I call upon the people of Mwembeshi Constituency, supporters, family, and friends across Zambia to stand with me in this cause. Together, we will build a Mwembeshi that works for everyone,” Mwamba said.
