Professional wrestler turned actor John Cena stole the show at this year’s Oscars, after seemingly walking out on stage in his birthday suit.
In a ceremony in which Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer walked away the biggest winner, it was Cena who emerged as one of the top headline makers from the ceremony after he walked onstage nude at the movies’ biggest night as part of a comedy bit at LA’s Dolby Theatre.
During the 96th edition of the academy awards, host Jimmy Kimmel reflected on an infamous streaker, who in 1974 interrupted David Niven while he was in the middle of introducing Elizabeth Taylor by walking across the stage naked.
“Can you imagine if a nude man ran across the stage today? Wouldn’t that be crazy?” Kimmel asked, as he reminisced over that incident.
He repeated the line after nothing happened, making it clear that he was prompting someone to take centre stage, with half of his body obscured by a piece of the set.

This was the cue for a naked Cena to take to the stage, to the raucous disbelief of the watching audience.
“I changed my mind, I don’t want to do the streaker bit anymore,” Cena told Kimmel, appearing to get cold feet.
“I don’t feel right about it,” Cena continued.
“It’s an elegant event! You should feel shame right now for suggesting such a tasteless idea!”
Cena also added, “The male body is not a joke!”
The former wrestler then came out from hiding and held a large presenter’s envelope in a strategic location, obscuring his privates.
