Zambian Judoka Steven Muga’andu says he is determined to bring glory and honour to mother Zambia at every competitive game provided he is in good health to step on the tatami.

The Judoka tells this journalist that judo is now in his blood adding that he has learnt different skills after competing with several talented Judokas across the world.

Mung’andu recently participated at the Africa Judo Championship in Algeria where he minted a bronze medal.

On Saturday 4 June the athlete took part in a tournament held at OYDC Zambia dubbed Musa’s Judo tournament which was held at the same time as the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge and lost his fight against Christopher Mulenga of Green Buffaloes Club.

Mung’andu of Green Eagles Judo Club seemed fatigued from the competition and attributed his loss to being unwell and requiring some bed rest.

The Judoka with many accolades for winning competitions said he does not feel hurt losing to a young Judoka stating that in every competition one should expect to win or lose.

And Muga’andu’s coach Mulemwa Lackson confirmed that his athlete felt unwell during the competition and needed some rest. The coach said Judoka’s performance is always exceptional stating that his athlete was called to take part in the tournament since he is in the national team and preparing for the commonwealth games.

And the winner of the fight Mulenga said he could not believe that he won the fight against such a good fighter. Mulenga added that it was his first time-fighting Muga’andu and that through him he has learnt a lot such as being disciplined and having the zeal to be focused when facing an opponent.

Meanwhile, spectators became emotional after seeing their favourite Judoka lose the fight. The fight was intense such that young judokas present shed tears.
