A 20-year-old woman of Macraymond Township in Kalomo has allegedly been robbed and gang raped by eight unknown men as she made her way home with her husband after a drinking outing.
The incident is reported to have occurred in the early hours of today, 22 November 2025, around 02:00 hours at the Kalomo Urban Clinic lay-by.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo says the victim and her 22-year-old husband had gone out for drinks at Kalomo Town Centre around 22:00 hours on November 21, 2025.
Mr. Namalongo explains that the couple later decided to return home on foot, but upon reaching the Kalomo Urban Clinic lay-by, they were reportedly confronted by eight unknown men who demanded their valuables.
He says when they resisted, the suspects began assaulting them, during which the husband managed to escape, leaving the woman behind.
Mr. Namalongo further explains that the suspects dragged the victim into nearby bushes along a footpath where she was allegedly robbed and sexually assaulted.
He adds that the attackers reportedly stole two mobile phones, an Infinix and a Tecno valued at K4,000 before fleeing the scene.
Mr. Namalongo says the victim later managed to make her way home and at around 10:30 hours sought medical attention at Kalomo Urban Clinic, where she was advised to report the matter to the police.
He states that police officers who visited the scene observed signs of struggle in the grass adding that no arrests or recoveries have been made so far.
Mr. Namalongo says investigations have since been launched to bring the perpetrators to justice.
