KAMBWILI ROYAL FAMILY MOURNS DEATH OF MUCHINDA WARD COUNCILLOR THOMAS PHIRI

The Kambwili Royal Family of Muchinda Chiefdom, through Chisenga Kunda, has expressed deep sorrow and conveyed heartfelt condolences to His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema, the United Party for National Development (UPND), and the people of Muchinda Ward following the passing of UPND Muchinda Ward Councillor, Thomas Phiri.

Mr. Kunda described the late Councillor Phiri as a dedicated and humble public servant who worked closely with traditional leadership and other stakeholders to advance development in the ward.

He noted that during Councillor Phiri’s tenure, Muchinda Ward experienced tangible developmental progress, citing the construction of the Luombwa Bridge, the grading of feeder roads, and the establishment of Mulilima Clinic as some of the key achievements realised under his leadership.

Mr. Kunda further stated that Councillor Phiri served his community with unwavering commitment, diligence, and a genuine passion for improving the welfare of the people.
Councillor Thomas Phiri passed away on Saturday at Serenje District Hospital.

Mr. Chisenga said the death of Councillor Phiri is a great loss to Muchinda Ward, Serenje District, and the nation as a whole.

He added that cooperation of the Royal Establishment with a councillor from the ruling party had made it easier to lobby for and implement development projects in the area, and encouraged the people of Muchinda to consider electing a replacement councillor from the UPND to ensure continuity in development and effective collaboration with the government of the day.
