Zambian politician Kelvin Kaunda has joined growing voices condemning the arrest of music star Macky 2, describing the move as unjustified.
In a statement shared on social media, Kaunda expressed concern over the development, referring to Macky 2—whose real name is Mulaza Kaira as his “brother and comrade.” His remarks have since sparked further debate around the incident.
“I have learnt with deep concern of the arrest of my brother and comrade, Mulaza Kaira, without lawful justification,” Kaunda stated. He further called on authorities to address the matter in line with democratic principles.
Kaunda added that he expects the government to issue an apology and uphold the rule of law, emphasising Zambia’s standing as a democratic state.
The statement has added pressure as public reactions continue to grow.
The arrest of Macky 2 has already drawn criticism from various stakeholders, including music industry figures, and remains a trending topic across the country.
