Ndola, Zambia – Kaweche Kaunda, son of Zambia’s First President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, has been found dead in Ndola.
According to a report by ZNBC News, Kaweche’s elder brother Colonel Panji Kaunda, who is also Zambia’s High Commissioner to Malawi, confirmed the death and described it as devastating.
Colonel Kaunda said his brother died in the early hours of today while in Ndola, where he had travelled on business. He disclosed that Kaweche was found dead in his room this morning.
He further stated that the cause of death will only be established after a post-mortem examination is conducted.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana has confirmed that Government is mourning with the Kaunda family and has conveyed condolences.
Mr. Kawana added that a detailed funeral programme will be released once arrangements are finalised.
Kaweche Kaunda’s death has shocked many Zambians, with the nation once again reflecting on the legacy of the Kaunda family, whose name remains deeply rooted in Zambia’s history and independence journey.
