Lawyer Fetes Matero Orphans
Lusaka Lawyer Dickson Jere today donated assorted items and food to the orphans in Matero as part of Christmas celebrations.
Jere spent his Christmas at Home of Merciful Foundation in George compound of Matero which houses over 80 disabled children.
Jere also promised to arrange more food in the coming weeks for the Orphanage after he was informed that kids were not having adequate meals.
“We will certainly arrange more food for the kids. It was touched when I heard that the Orphanage is facing good shortages,” Jere said after touring the premises.
The lawyer, who is also former State House spokesperson, interacted with kids living with disabilities.
The Orphanage has eight caregivers and six teachers who are volunteers and do not receive any pay for their work.
Most of the kids at the Orphanage were picked from the streets and taken in for rehabilitation at the centre.
