Luano Town Council has embarked on constructing a modern bus station in Masansa area of Luano District under the Zambia Devolution Support Programme (ZDSP).
Freelance Journalist Winter Mubanga reports from Luano that the project, valued at K2,319,327.97, has been awarded to Malambo Business Innovation and is expected to be completed within five (5) months.
Luano Council Public Relations Officer Veronica Samakayi confirmed that construction has commenced, explaining that the contractor has completed excavation of the foundation and is currently carrying out concrete footing while metal works are under way.
Samakayi stated that once completed, the modern bus station will improve the transport system, enhance trade and provide a more organised and safer environment for passengers and transport operators in the District.
She added that the project is also expected to contribute to local economic growth and improved service delivery in Masansa and surrounding areas.
