Moscow-Russia: Lusaka Mayor, Her Worship Ms. Chilando Chitangala has met with Yango Global Representative Ms. Daria Utkina and discussed issues regarding urban mobility and parking challenges faced by Yango service providers.
The engagement took place during the interaction session at the ongoing International Transport Summit in Moscow, Russia.
In a significant development aimed at enhancing urban mobility, Ms. Chitangala told the Yango Global Representative that Yango, the leading ride-hailing and mobility service provider must work collaboratively with the Local Authority in the city of Lusaka to find solutions to challenges facing the company and help the Council improve its parking system.
The two parties further discussed the best approach to explore avenues for collaboration to improve parking infrastructure within Lusaka, particularly for Yango service providers. Persistent parking in undesignated areas has been identified as a major obstacle to efficient urban mobility in Lusaka, contributing significantly to traffic gridlock.
Mayor Chitangala emphasized that parking for ride-hailing service providers remains one of the most critical issues facing Lusaka’s urban transport development. She underscored the importance of adopting innovative solutions to alleviate parking woes and streamline traffic flow across the city. “Effective parking management for Yango service providers is essential for the city’s overall mobility and urban planning. We are eager to explore technological approaches that can optimize parking resources and reduce congestion,” she stated.
Ms. Utkina expressed enthusiasm about strengthening partnership efforts with Lusaka to develop smart mobility solutions. She highlighted Yango’s extensive experience across various regions and emphasized the transformative potential of technology in easing parking challenges and improving urban mobility.
