A 28-year-old woman of John Leing compound in Lusaka has been arrested for Child desertion after she sold her child to another woman.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale has disclosed that police have also arrested the buyer identified as Catherine Simuchimba aged 26 of Kaunda Square in Kitwe.

Mr Mwale narrates that police investigations revealed that Mary Mweetwa aged 28 of John Leing compound gave birth to a baby boy at Chawama Clinic in Lusaka on November 18, 2023 and on November 20, 2023 she is alleged to have sold the baby to Ms. Simuchimba.
“The transaction occurred in John Leing compound. The baby who is said to be in good health was handed over to the relatives of the mother while the two suspects are detained in Police custody waiting to be formally charged,” he said.
