A 20-year-old man from Chikankata district, identified as Junior Nkwesa, has committed suicide by ingesting three pills of Quick Force, a rat poison brand.

The incident occurred on 29th September 2024, following a family dispute, and was reported to the police by his sister-in-law.

Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, stated that Nkwesa had informed his sister-in-law about consuming the poison, prompting her to take him to the hospital.

Despite efforts to save him, Nkwesa’s condition deteriorated, and he succumbed to the poison 30 minutes after police officers visited him on the same day.

Details of the family dispute that led to this tragic event are yet to be made public.
