A LUSAKA man has ended his 15-year marriage after discovering a tablet of soap, commonly found in lodges, and charms in his wife’s handbag.
Edgar Namayala, 47, a civil engineer, petitioned the court to dissolve his marriage to Caroline Chushi, 33, citing infidelity and mistrust.
The couple married in 2010 and have two children.
Namayala told the court that marital problems began when they lived in Matero, where he received information that his wife was seeing another man.
He said the situation worsened after they moved to Kasupe, alleging that Chushi denied him conjugal rights, slept in a separate room, and left home for days without explanation.
He testified that one evening, after his wife returned late, he checked her handbag and found the soap and charms, which he claimed she used to entice men.
In her defence, Chushi denied the allegations and accused Namayala of having an affair with a married woman.
She said she had recordings of her husband mocking the woman’s spouse about the affair.
