Man finds alcoholic nephew decomposed at home

A MAN believed to be battling alcohol addiction has been discovered lying lifeless in his home in a decomposed state, with maggots in his mouth.

The lifeless body of 38-year-old Amon Banda was discovered inside his three bedroom house after three days of not being seen around the village.

This incident occurred between Friday last week around 18:00 hours and yesterday around 09:00 hours at Kawenda village of Chief Nyanje’s jurisdiction in Sinda district.

According to reports, the deceased met with his 25-year-old nephew on Friday before he went missing.

Concerned family members, noticing his unusual absence since Saturday, decided to check on him around 06:00 hours on Monday.

When the deceased’s uncle reached his place, he suddenly saw some flies coming out from the house and upon entering his house, he then found Banda’s body in an advanced state of decomposition, with maggots visible in his mouth.

Eastern province police commanding officer Robertson Mweemba revealed that the uncle later informed the police who rushed to the scene.

“Police officers who rushed to the scene found the body of the deceased in a decomposed state with a lot of flies in the house and maggots coming out from the mouth,” Mweemba said.

“The body was inspected and had no physical injuries.”

According to Mweemba, relatives were advised to bury immediately since there was no suspected foul play.
