A 48-year-old man from Mantanyani village in Zimba has been discovered in a state of decomposition in his house with gunshot wounds.
The case is suspected to be murder.
He has been identified as Bernard Sekeleti Siachitema, who was staying alone after separating from his wife.
On 24th February, 2026, around 12:00 hours, a relative became concerned after the deceased could not be reached by phone.
He had also not been seen during funeral preparations for a family member.
Together with another relative, the two went to check on the deceased at his residence.
He was last seen around 9:00 hours on 22nd February.
When they arrived, they found the door locked from the inside.
This prompted them to remove bricks from a window space to gain entry into the house.
They discovered the deceased lying lifeless in his bedroom.
Police officers who visited the scene confirmed visible gunshot wounds on the deceased.
The indication is that the perpetrators may have fired shots through the bedroom window, which has an opening at the top.
Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Moono Namalongo, notes that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
