Mansa Mother Allegedly Kills Two Young Children With Hoe, Police Launch Investigations

A 28-year-old woman from Mansa District in Chief Chimese’s Chiefdom has allegedly killed her two young children in a shocking incident that has left the local community in disbelief.

The suspect, identified as Gladys Kapya, is alleged to have fatally attacked her children using a hoe under circumstances that remain unclear.

According to reports, shortly after the incident, Kapya contacted her mother and brother, asking them to come to her residence.

When the family members arrived, they reportedly found her in a distressed state. She was allegedly unable to explain what had happened and instead directed them to the house, where the bodies of the two children were discovered.

The deceased have been identified as four-year-old Taizya Simukoko and one-month-old Paul Nkole.

Police officers who responded to the scene recovered a hoe believed to have been used in the incident. The farming tool reportedly had what investigators described as fresh blood stains.

Authorities have since taken the suspect to Mansa General Hospital for a mental assessment as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police say investigations are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths and determine what may have led to the tragic incident.

The case has shocked residents of Mansa and has once again highlighted the importance of mental health awareness and timely intervention for individuals experiencing severe emotional or psychological distress.

Police are expected to provide further updates as investigations progress and once the mental assessment has been completed.
