Rashida Mulenga, former Kalulushi mayor, recently officiated at the finals of the independence tournament at St. Marcellin grounds in Chibuluma, Kalulushi district.
The tournament, which aims to foster development and keep youth engaged, saw the hosting team Marceline stars emerge as winners after beating MTF stars (farm college).
Gym stars and Center sales FC battled it out in the third and fourth place via 3-0 scoreline in favor of Center sales.
And Mulenga emphasized the importance of sports initiatives in changing lives, especially for young people, and encouraged the community to bring forth issues affecting them for possible solutions.
As Executive Mayor for Kalulushi District in 2016 Rashida Mulenga has been instrumental in promoting development programs.
Her efforts in organizing sports tournaments demonstrate her commitment to empowering the youth and fostering community development.
By sponsoring such initiatives, Mulenga continues to positively impact the lives of young people in Kalulushi district.
Seven teams, among them, Chilobe, Chibuluma Rangers, Chibote Super stars, Gym stars and Center sales FC took part in this year’s tournament, with all participating teams walking away with soccer balls as well as cash prizes courtesy of Mulenga.
