In a case involving Rambo Muzyamba, a bus driver based in Mazabuka, the accused has appeared in the district Magistrate Court for the continuation of trial.
Muzyamba faces charges of defilement of a child, as per Section 138 (1) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
The offence allegedly occurred between 23rd and 25th March 2024, when Muzyamba had carnal knowledge of the 12-year-old stepdaughter.
According to the arresting officer’s testimony, the minor revealed that her stepfather had defiled her multiple times, particularly when her mother was away for work.
These incidents reportedly took place in the living room, where the minor shared space with her two younger siblings, aged five and three.
The girl’s mother, employed by Sun City in Mazabuka, worked late shifts, typically from 21:00 to 03:00 or 04:00 hours.
The court has adjourned the matter to 13th June 2024, with the accused person remaining in custody pending trial.
