The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Permanent Secretary Ms. Angela Kawandami has encouraged digitization within the Ministry departments in order to effectively implement various social protection programmes.
She said the digitization agenda should be embraced in line with President Hakainde Hichilema’s passion to see a digitized, systematic, efficient and effective delivery of various services to the public.
Ms. Kawandami has since assured that the Ministry will accelerate the actualization of the establishment of the social registry that will enhance beneficiary targeting and ultimately promote a digitized approach in the implementation of social protection programmes.
She said this when she met members of staff from the Ministry in Kasama District to appreciate the challenges and successes in the implementation of social protection programmes in the District and the Province as a whole.
Areas of discussion included the implementation of departmental progammes such as the Social Cash Trasfer,Food Security Pack (FSP), Alternative Livelihood Intervention (ALI) among many others which she said have scored great successes amidst various budgetary operational challenges brought about by the climate change induced drought situation.
“A social register is a must and remains a priority for the Ministry because government wants to systematically account for every beneficiary”, Ms. Kawandami emphasized.
The Permanent Secretary who was accompanied by Director for Community Development Mr Changano Ngoi is in the Province to handover agricultural inputs under the FSP programme and monitor the implementation of other life-changing programmes.
