A 16-year-old mental patient in Isoka District has allegedly killed his sister-in-law and injured six others.

Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer DENNIS MOOLA confirmed the incident, which occurred in Mandala Village.

The suspect, who has been suffering from a mental disorder since January 2025, had been receiving treatment at Isoka District Hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable.

However, Mr. MOOLA said that on the day of the incident, the teenager’s condition suddenly worsened, and he became violent, picking up an axe handle which he used to attack his family members.

Among the victims are his father, LIGHTON SINKALA, aged 67, who sustained a deep cut to the back of his head, and his mother, ROSTER NAMBELA, aged 50, who suffered a deep cut to the forehead and another to the back of her head.
