A wave of grief has swept through Zimba District following the sudden death of a trained midwife and devoted Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church singer who died after being involved in a fatal road traffic accident.
The deceased has been identified as Memory Hazel Kulivela, popularly known as Mrs Hamalake, who was also an active Dorcas worker in the SDA Church.
According to information obtained, the accident happened on Sunday around the Mayoba–Silverland area in Zimba District.
Sources indicate that Memory sustained serious injuries and was briefly admitted to Zimba Mission Hospital for medical attention. However, her condition reportedly worsened.
It is believed that she later died while being evacuated from Zimba Mission Hospital to Livingstone for specialist treatment.
Family members, friends, and church colleagues have since expressed shock and heartbreak over her passing, describing her as a committed health worker and a woman who served both the community and the church with passion.
Memory Kulivela’s death has left many mourning, with tributes pouring in from people who knew her as a dedicated midwife, a strong believer, and a talented singer whose voice uplifted many in worship.
