Monze Food Security Pack (FSP), beneficiaries have today received agriculture equipment and livestock from their payback recoveries worth of over K935,000.
Items received, include 10 hammermills,5 oil expellers,3 dehulers, 31 beehives, 305, village chickens,14 bags of sunflower and 276 goats.
Officiating at the handover ceremony, Director for Community Development, Ms. Patricia Muyamwa appreciated that Monze District has become one of the first districts to procure the equipment through the paybacks, and encouraged others in the province, and countrywide to follow suit.
She said government remains committed to address poverty and vulnerability through the promotion of domestic food security through such ventures and initiatives.

She said it is important for beneficiaries to treat farming as a lucrative business, even as government promotes mechanization of agricultural activities among the rural small-scale farming communities.
“I wish to appeal for continued support from all our stakeholders and I implore all of us working in this sector to adhere to the programme guidelines to ensure gradual eradication of poverty” Ms. Muyamwa further said.
And Monze District Commissioner, Mr.Mwanza Malambo, testified that the FSP programme which has facilitated for the procurement of agricultural equipment is unprecedented and means a lot for the local people whose lives will improved significantly.
Mr Malambo appreciated the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services for successfully implementing such as programme that will undoubtedly contribute to national food security and general well-being of the Monze population.
