The Chipata Magistrate Court has sentenced a 36-year-old woman to 6 years imprisonment, for assaulting her 14-year-old daughter, who she accused of being a prostitute.
Before Resident Magistrate, DESTINY KALUSOPA, was IREEN THOLE, who pleaded guilty to one count of assault on a child.
According to the facts, the accused poured hot water on her daughter’s private parts, before beating her with a cooking stick on November 5, 2024.
On the material day, the victim went to plait her hair at the neighbours’ house and came back around 18 hours before retiring to bed.
She was however awakened by the hot water which was poured on her by the mother.
The victim sustained burns on the private parts and both thighs.
In sentencing the convict, Magistrate KALUSOPA said burning her own daughter on the private parts using hot water was evil and deserves custodial punishment.
