Luangeni Member of Parliament and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Moyo, expressed his commitment towards supporting President Hakainde Hichilema’s free education policy by increasing classroom space.

Moyo has since announced plans to roof a newly constructed Headteacher’s house at Pontino Jere Primary School in Nsingo Ward, Luangeni Constituency, Chipata City.

He explained that the school, named after the father of His Majesty King Mpezeni IV, was built entirely from his personal resources before his election in 2021.

Moyo noted that the school caters for pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 and has been operational since 2023 in Luangeni Village under Paramount Chief Mpezeni.

He recalled that in 2024, the school was officially handed over to the Government and commissioned by district officials, government departments, and representatives of King Mpezeni, marking a significant milestone in expanding access to education in the area.

Moyo highlighted that all facilities at the school, including classrooms and supporting infrastructure, water system, were funded and constructed from his pocket.

He stressed that the roofing of the Headteacher’s house is part of his broader vision to ensure teachers are well accommodated, thereby improving the quality of education delivery.

Local leaders, including aspiring councillor Gift Daka, observed that Moyo’s investment in Pontino Jere Primary School reflects his dedication to uplifting education standards, empowering communities, and honouring cultural heritage through development.
