MUCHINDU CONGRATULATES MWIINDE AFTER CHOMA SOUTH UPND ADOPTION

_‘…There can only be one leader at a time,’ he says as he calls for party unity_

Choma South UPND aspiring MP Joe Muchindu has congratulated Trevor Mwiinde on being adopted as the ruling party’s candidate for the constituency ahead of the elections.

Both Muchindu and Mwiinde applied for adoption under the UPND, with Mwiinde receiving the adoption certificate.

In a congratulatory message, Muchindu said there could only be one leader at a time and that he respected the party’s decision.

Muchindu has also urged his supporters to respect the outcome and avoid confrontational discourse on and off social media.

“Yes, we were looking forward to it but the party has made a decision which we need to respect,” he said.

“We congratulate my brother Trevor and wish him all the very best in the campaigns,” Muchindu added.

Muchindu stressed that politics was about service to the people, not personal interests.

“I know most of my people are disappointed, but there is nothing we can do for now. Let us just continue mobilizing for the party and ensuring that President Hakainde Hichilema is re-elected and be able to continue taking the nation forward,” he said.

Meanwhile, Muchindu has urged party members elsewhere not to be divided because of adoptions.

“We need to remain united as a party and support those that have been adopted. That is the only way we can overcome and continue running this country with President Hichilema in charge,” he added.
