A Heartfelt Message of Thanks from the Banda Family
Our hearts are overflowing. The last few days have taught us the true meaning of family and friendship.
We have come to realize that Ozzy doesn’t just belong to the Banda family; he belongs to the people of Zambia and Africa.
He has a family outside of us that equally loves him, prays for him, and carries him with them daily, and it is those prayers that have kept him strong and kept us hopeful.
Our deepest gratitude goes to Mr. Makina, and all first responders, who rushed to the scene and took the accident victims, including General Ozzy and Benjamin, to the hospital.
Your heroic act of kindness helped keep them alive, and we are forever indebted to you all.
We are profoundly moved by the immediate and decisive action taken by the Government to evacuate our brothers from Monze to Lusaka.
To the Zambia Flying Doctor Service, thank you for being the wings that brought our brothers closer to the care they needed. Your swift evacuation of Ozzy and Benjamin was a literal answer to a prayer.
We want to extend a special, personal thank you to PS Thabo Kawana from the Ministry of Information and Media.
Even while far away in Lusaka, he was constantly on the phone with us, checking in and offering strength. Seeing him there at the airport to receive Ozzy and Benjamin personally meant the world to us; it was a true show of care.
Our gratitude also goes out to:
The Ministry of Health and the incredible staff at Monze Hospital for their first-line care.
The Zambia Association of Musicians – ZAM, your leadership and presence from the very first moment showed us what true brotherhood looks like.
The National Arts Council, the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts, and PS Kangwa Chileshe, the Ministry of Information and Media.
To the artists, fans, and friends who didn’t think twice about traveling all the way to Monze to sit with them; we see you and we love you, we are grateful for you. We equally acknowledge the swift assistance by ZANACO monze branch.
To everyone who called, sent a message, or whispered a prayer: we do not take any of it for granted.
You are the reason we are standing.
Even as we hope and pray for recovery, our hearts are heavy for the Nyirenda family.
We offer our deepest, most heartfelt condolences to you, your colleagues, and friends. We share in your grief.
Ozzy and Benjamin are continuing to receive medical support, and we look forward to sharing more updates on their road to recovery soon.
A full medical update will be shared in due course.
Thank you, Zambia.
We appreciate you more than words can say.
