The Zambian music scene is in shock as the Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) officially announced the passing of one of its most influential figures, Chali “Bravo” Mulalami. The legendary producer, songwriter, and founder of Slingbeats Entertainment passed away this evening at Levy Mwanawasa Teaching Hospital in Lusaka after a brief illness.
Chali Bravo was more than just a producer—he was a visionary who redefined the sound of modern Zambian music. His innovative approach to music production and songwriting created a unique sonic identity for the nation, leaving a lasting imprint on the industry.
Over his illustrious career, Chali Bravo worked with some of Zambia’s most prominent artists, producing hits for the likes of CQ, Crystal Shaun, K’millian, Tommy D, Mampi, Ty2, Namanje, Hamooba, General Ozzy, Kanji, Roberto, Bob Muli, Alice Chuma, Choklet, Humphrey, Cray Jay, Masi, Khuzie, Mr Mainza, Kelvin Mwesa, among many others.
His contributions have not only shaped the careers of these artists but have also provided the soundtrack to the lives of countless Zambians. Fans and fellow musicians alike remember him as a pioneer whose creativity and passion were unmatched.
In a statement, ZAM expressed deep sorrow over the loss, extending condolences to Chali Bravo’s family, friends, and the broader creative community. Funeral arrangements will be shared in due course.
The music world has lost a legend, but Chali “Bravo” Mulalami’s legacy will continue to resonate through the melodies he created.
