A 23 year old musician of Chikankata district has been sentenced to 9 months imprisonment by the Mazabuka magistrate court for theft.
This is in a matter where Alex Chilima was charged with the offense of theft by agent.
Particulars of the offence are that Chilima on 14th February, last year stole 1 bicycle and 250-kwacha cash all valued at 5-thousand 2-hundred and 50-kwacha which was entrusted to him by Jeenala Seele to buy relish and cigarettes.
Facts are that Chilima was accommodated for a month by the complaint during a time he had no place to stay as he is her son’s friend.
And Seele on the material day, sent the now convict to buy cooking oil and relish using the bicycle but she never saw him since.
But in his defense, Chilima said the complainant’s son stole his clothes prompting him to visit her over the matter which ended in an argument with her.
