Former Army Commander Francis Sibamba joined politics after he was unceremoniously sacked from his position. He later learnt that there was no honour among politicians contrary to his military experience.
He writes;
“Soon after I had joined the MMD, which was highly publicized, I met in a supermarket in Northmead shopping complex in Lusaka, a former colleague, Aaron Muyovwe, whom I had interacted with in the National Party,” the General recalls.
“He went to town castigating and blaming me for the mistake I had made by joining the MMD…However, what amazed me was that hardly a month later, I saw a clip of the ZNBC Tv news at 19:00 hours, showing Aaron Muyovwe rejoining the MMD in Pemba. I could hardly believe my eyes”.
He later met his brother in law who was a high ranking UNIP man and also did not take it kindly when he heard that the General had joined the MMD. However, he was shocked to later see the same man publicly professing “his staunch membership of the ruling party, MMD”.
“If this is the nature of politics in our country, then I admit I still have a long way to go…” the General says.
