Most of the people endorsing Hakainde Hichilema have lost ground and are merely seeking sympathy from the UPND administration, Democratic Union President Ackim Antony Njobvu has charged.
President Hichilema has in recent weeks received endorsement from both current PF members as well as former party officials as the preferred presidential candidate for the 2026 elections.
Njobvu has advised President Hichilema to double check those endorsing him, adding that most of them are members of parliament that have lost ground and have been rejected by the electorates.
He warns that President Hichilema should not be overjoyed by the endorsements, describing them as fake propaganda.
Njobvu believes that people endorsing Hichilema are mostly Patriotic Front (PF) aligned members who are avoiding possible prosecution for alleged crimes committed during their tenure, especially that PF had vowed to “deal with the UPND” had the former ruling party won the 2021 elections.
He said genuine endorsements should come from general citizens themselves who feel the impacts of economic challenges as opposed to politicians seeking possible adoption from the UPND ahead of the August 13th general election.
He added that many endorsers, mostly former PF members, are trying to avoid accountability for past actions, advising Hichilema to be cautious!
He was speaking during an interview dubbed “Nkani Yatu” on Kwithu FM, Tuesday morning.
