Democratic Union (DU) president Ackim Antony Njobvu has condemned the recent fuel price increase, describing it as a “crushing blow” to struggling Zambians.

The Energy Regulation Board hiked diesel by K2.32 and petrol by K0.97 per liter, exacerbating transport costs, food prices, and livelihood pressures.

“The UPND Government has chosen to burden the people instead of offering solutions. With inflation soaring to 13.9%, this increase spells more hardship for ordinary citizens,” Njobvu said.

The DU president has urged the Government to reinstate fuel subsidies to cushion vulnerable Zambians.

Njobvu called for a review of the pricing structure, more support for alternative energy, and measures to ease the cost of living.

“Our people are suffering. It’s time for empathy, not just announcements,” he said, pledging that DU will reinstate fuel subsidies if elected into office next year.

“As DU, we will reinstate fuel subsidies once elected as the Republican President next year,” he added.

Njobvu has called on Zambians, especially the youth, to join his party, positioning it as a beacon of hope for a better Zambia.
