*Njobvu Warns That UPND Will ‘Gnash Teeth’ if Not Elected President*

By Francis Chipalo

DEMOCRATIC Union (DU) president Antony Njobvu has warned that the UPND will face severe backlash if anyone else is elected president in 2026, aside from himself.

Mr. Njobvu stated that the ongoing animosity between the ruling UPND and the opposition Patriotic Front (PF) requires a neutral figure to lead the country forward.

“If another person aside from me is elected, they’ll make sure they deal with UPND. Bazakalila (they’ll cry). They’ll be weeping and gnashing of teeth in the UPND camp,” Mr. Njobvu warned.

He emphasized the need for a neutral leader to unite the nation, stating that his focus is on national development, not party politics.

Mr. Njobvu promised protection to President Hakainde Hichilema and UPND members if they hand over power to him, ensuring Hichilema’s status as a former head of state is respected.

Mr. Njobvu criticized the current political landscape, stating that Zambia is stuck due to the constant fighting between UPND and PF.

He has therefore urged Zambians to consider him as a unifying figure, stressing that he has no issues with either party.
