ALTHOUGH no-one has confirmed seeing the large cat, residents of Lilayi and Chilanga have been urged to take precautionary measures and restrict movements following reports of a stray lion in the area.
Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) has advised residents to move with a torch light at night, check surroundings before going outside and avoid moving alone.
Ministry of Tourism public relations officer Sakabilo Kalembwe said DNPW is in receipt of information about a lion on the loose in Lilayi.
“Wildlife police officers and the wildlife veterinary officers have already been deployed to collate facts and to take action if the lion is spotted.
