The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia says it is actively investigating the identity and conduct of the individual featured in a widely circulated video.

In a statement, Wednesday, Public Relations Officer Mailesi Banda explained that the Council was alerted to the footage on the same day.

She emphasised that the Council is treating the matter with the seriousness it deserves and has launched a formal enquiry.

Banda disclosed that the investigation aims to determine whether the individual is a registered nurse or midwife under the Council’s jurisdiction.

She further noted that the Council is also examining the circumstances that led to the individual’s apparent inability to walk properly while in uniform.

Banda highlighted that the behaviour exhibited in the video, if confirmed, would be inconsistent with the professional standards expected of practitioners.

She assured the public that appropriate action will be taken once the facts are fully established.

Banda reiterated the Council’s commitment to upholding the integrity and professionalism of the nursing and midwifery professions.

She stressed that the Council remains vigilant in safeguarding public trust through regulatory oversight.

Banda affirmed that the public will be duly informed of the outcome of the enquiry in due course.
