Inspector General of Police, Graphel Musamba, has announced that an individual is in custody for ongoing social media attacks on Chipo Mwanawasa, Special Assistant to the President for Public Policy.
Rumors circulating online allege that Chipo, daughter of former President Levy Mwanawasa, secured her State House position due to an affair with the Head of State.
Some have even suggested she is pregnant from this alleged relationship.
Musamba has issued a stern warning to those spreading these potentially criminal rumors.
He indicated that a certain opposition political party might be behind the media propaganda and emphasized that the police will not hesitate to arrest anyone whose actions cross into criminal conduct.
He urged citizens to refrain from sharing unverified information, as it could interfere with ongoing investigations and cause unnecessary alarm.
