A 25-year-old assistant intelligence officer under the Office of the President has been arrested for allegedly assaulting the officer-in-charge at Shampande Police Post in Choma for refusing to release on bond a woman who was in custody.

Southern Province police commanding officer Auxensio Daka said Mphatso Miti allegedly kicked and also squeezed the neck of the office-in-charge, Bristol Choongo, 52.

Mr Choongo was assaulted on Sunday around 02:00 hours.
