So yesternight I was at a club in Kabwe & It shocked me that The DJ was only playing South African(SA), Ghanian(GA), Nigerian(NG)& Tanzanian(TZ) music??. so I had to think like am I not in Zambia? olo maybe Am in SA, GA, NG or TZ?
If we are to grow the Zambian music for it to hit the international market, It starts with ourselves by embracing our own artists & Music. Hence, DJs muma bars/clubs, Have you ever asked yourselves; Do SA, GA, NG or TZ DJs play Zambian music in their respective countries play Zambian music in their clubs/bars like you play their’s here???? DEFINITELY NO!!!! Why? Because they embrace their’s First!
Am not Saying you should be Not playing international Music muma clubs/bars in Zambia but Just try to strike a balance between the international songs & Zambian music you play As you Might Know MUSIC IS TASTE, ONE CANNOT ENJOY INTERNATIONAL MUSIC AS MUCH AS THEY ENJOY ZED MUSIC & Vice versa. so try To mix your playlists if can’t play zed music alone?……
Otherwise, if that trend continues we are very far From getting the international recognition that you DJs complain about….
