A Peace, Leadership, and Conflict Resolution Scientist, Tom Njovu, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of a woman in Kalumbila District.
Njovu, who holds a Master of Science in Peace, Leadership, and Conflict Resolution from the University of Zambia (UNZA), described the incident as heartbreaking and disturbing, stressing that no life should ever be taken in such a cruel and senseless manner based on unverified accusations and hearsay.
He emphasized that no individual deserves to be subjected to mob injustice, stripped of their dignity and right to life.
Njovu said the act was barbaric and stood in direct contradiction to Zambia’s Christian values of love, compassion, and respect for human life.
“As a peace advocate, I urge our communities to reject mob justice and refrain from acting on rumours. Justice must always be pursued through lawful and established channels. Taking the law into our own hands only breeds chaos, fear, and further loss of innocent lives,” he stated.
Njovu further called upon the Zambia Police Service to strengthen security within communities and ensure that every citizen is protected, saying the safety of the people must remain a top priority.
He urged Zambians to choose peace over violence, love over hatred, and unity over division, quoting Mahatma Gandhi: “An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.”
“Together, let us build a society where human life is valued, protected, and respected,” Njovu said.
