A family of 18 people from Nikisi village in the Kabololwe area, Chief Kanyensha, Luano District in Central Province, have been admitted to the Old Mkushi Rural Health Centre after consuming poisonous Munkoyo.
Freelance journalist Winter Mubanga reports that Luano District Health Director, Dr Rabbi Panja, confirmed all 18 are currently receiving treatment at Old Mkushi Rural Health Centre with reinforcement from Luano District Mini Hospital.
Luano District Commissioner Kell’s Meleki thanked health officers for their quick intervention on the victims and appealed to the local people to be careful when taking certain drinks.
Meleki said people should understand the contents of local brews before consuming them.
