THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE –KAFUE POLICE STATION
October 30,2025-The Zambia Police Service wishes to inform the public that it is investigating a case of Theft from Motor Vehicle which occurred on October 29, 2025 around 11:00 hours in Kafue District.
The incident was reported at 11:20 hours through Industrial Police Post by Mr. Everisto Mwamba, aged 55, of Kafue, who reported that an amount of K100,000=00 cash was stolen from his Toyota Hilux by unknown persons.
Brief facts of the matter are that on the material day around 09:00 hours, the complainant left home for his shop in town. Around 10:00 hours, he went to a named Bank in Kafue , where he withdrew K100,000=00 cash before proceeding to his construction site at Estates Market. Upon arrival, he left the money in his vehicle without locking it and went to talk to bricklayers at the site.
Moments later, he was informed by a member of the public that an unknown person had been seen entering his vehicle and leaving with a plastic bag.
The suspect was observed running towards a Toyota Allion registration number BAG 8770ZM, which was parked nearby. The complainant pursued the vehicle using his own and managed to corner it where the suspects abandoned it and fled on foot after the suspects released that the road was a close. The stolen money was recovered intact.
Police officers who visited the scene recovered the full amount of money, the abandoned Toyota Allion, additional number plates CAG 7121ZM, breaking instruments, a Techno smartphone, a small phone, and a gadget used to neutralize immobilizer locking systems.
The vehicle has since been impounded and investigations have been launched to apprehend the suspects.
The Zambia Police Service wishes to commend the swift response by alert members of the public who helped in this recovery. However, the Service strongly urges members of the public to desist from moving around with large sums of cash, as this exposes them to potential theft or robbery.
Members of the public are advised to make use of safe and secure electronic payment systems and where it becomes necessary to move with cash, to ensure proper security arrangements are made. Police further caution against leaving valuables or cash unattended in motor vehicles, even for a short period.
Investigations in this matter are ongoing.
