Police in Kawambwa have arrested and charged three Tonse Alliance members for theft.
The three are Mambilima Member of Parliament, Jean Chisenga, former PF Deputy Secretary General, Mumbi Phiri, and Lusaka lawyer, Celestine Mukandila.
Luapula Province Police Commissioner, Mwala Yuyi, said the arrest followed a report from Charles Musonda, who alleged that his laptop, valued at 8 thousand Kwacha, and 20 thousand Kwacha in cash were stolen.
Yuyi told Byta FM News in a statement that the incident occurred on 18th December around 14:30 hours at Patrimuso Lodge in Kawambwa District.
He stated that preliminary investigations had revealed that the three suspects searched Musonda’s room based on suspicions that he was in possession of offensive weapons, during which the theft of his property occurred.
Yuyi added that the suspects had since been released on police bond and were scheduled to appear in court soon.
He mentioned that none of the stolen items had been recovered, but investigations into the matter were ongoing.
