A POLICE officer at Lundazi Police Station has been detained for allegedly being among the five criminals who staged a robbery at a bank in Lundazi recently.

Police recently arrested three people, among them a South African, for allegedly being part of the five criminals who staged a robbery at the bank.

The three were apprehended in Malawi, where they fled to after the robbery. Eastern Province police commanding officer Robertson Mweemba told Chikaya FM in Lundazi that among the suspects who allegedly staged a robbery at the bank is a police officer who works at Lundazi Police Station.

Police are currently carrying out investigations into the matter and the officer is still in custody.
