Zambia’s Deputy High Commissioner to South Africa, Ruth Dante, has wished the Zambia National Football Team success as they intensify preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled to kick off on 21 December in Morocco.

According to a statement by Alexander Musokotwane – first secretary for press and public relations at the Zambian high commission in Pretoria, Dante met the Chipolopolo boys in South Africa, where the team played a single international friendly match against the South African national team as part of their AFCON build-up.

Dante commended the players for their discipline, teamwork, and the positive spirit they continue to demonstrate despite the challenging result.

She noted that the Chipolopolo remain an important symbol of national pride and unity, adding that their participation in regional engagements contributes significantly to strengthening Zambia’s visibility and reputation on the global stage.

Dante highlighted the role of the national team in promoting sports diplomacy and sports tourism, both of which help foster closer ties and cultural exchange between Zambia and other nations.

She also encouraged the squad to remain focused and committed to their preparation programme, stressing the importance of drawing lessons from every match as they gear up for the continental tournament.
