One of the girls among the 13 who were abducted, has given birth, within a week after their rescue.
The lady gave birth in the early hours of Sunday, 9th October 2022 at one of the hospitals in Lusaka and barely 24 hours after the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, took over the welfare of the girls.
The girl together with the baby are doing well and in good health.
And Minister of Community Development and Social Services, Ms. Doreen Mwamba has described the development as a blessing .
She said when she rushed to the health facility to check on the mother and the newborn baby, that it is a miracle that the baby has been delivered under a conducive environment were she is receiving adequate health care and full support from government through the Ministry.
She said the situation would have been unimaginable, if the girl was still under abduction, as that would have been a risk both to the mother and the child, considering the conditions under which the girls were living.
Ms. Mwamba has therefore assured that government will continue to support the girls in every possible way.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services announced that government has taken over the welfare of the 13 girls who were recently abducted.
