PRESIDENT HICHILEMA CONGRATULATES FDD ON CHAWAMA WIN
President Hakainde Hichilema has congratulated the Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) and its candidate, Bright Nundwe, for winning the Chawama Constituency parliamentary by-election.
Hichilema commended Nundwe for the victory, describing it as the outcome of a tightly contested and spirited race.
He acknowledged that while elections produce winners and losers, their higher purpose is to promote unity, peace, and democratic growth.
The Head of State applauded all participating candidates and political parties, particularly the United Party for National Development (UPND), for demonstrating commitment to democratic principles.
President Hichilema expressed appreciation to the people of Chawama for their strong voter turnout and exemplary civic conduct.
He emphasised the vital role of citizen engagement in reinforcing Zambia’s democratic institutions and governance.
The President also recognised the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for conducting a transparent and credible electoral process.
Hichilema lauded the efforts of law enforcement agencies in ensuring a peaceful and secure environment throughout the election.
He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to upholding democratic values and respecting the will of the electorate.
The Head of State encouraged all political actors to continue fostering dialogue, tolerance, and national cohesion.
He stressed that the responsibility of nurturing democracy rests with every citizen.
President Hichilema reiterated his government’s unwavering commitment to inclusive leadership and the rule of law.
