…says Zambians should take note of Choma Statement

By Francis Chipalo

Democratic Union president Ackim Antony Njobvu has charged that President Hakainde Hichilema is a danger to the nation following a statement he made during a rally in Choma recently.

President Hichilema warned Southern Province residents that they would suffer if he loses the 2026 elections, which Njobvu labels as intimidation.

And Njobvu says Hichilema’s statement is a threat to national unity and peace in view of this year’s general elections.

Some critics have also argued that the statement could fuel regional hatred, but UPND supporters see it as a mobilizing address reflecting Zambia’s history of political vengeance. The reactions are all-over social media platforms.

But speaking Thursday morning on Christian Nation radio, Njobvu urged Zambians to take note of the President’s statement, saying Hichilema’s leadership undermines national cohesion.

Njobvu described the statement as unfortunate, further saying the head of state needs alangizi (political counselors) to sit him down.

Njobvu who also called on Hichilema to retract the statement emphasizes Zambia’s need for unifying leadership.

“President Hichilema is a danger to the nation and Zambians should take note of his statement and use it against him because he is promoting divisions instead of unity,”he said.

Njobvu further wondered why the Police has not taken interest in the President’s statement when opposition members that had in recent past uttered similar statements had seen the walls of jail.

Njobvu has since urged Zambians, especially the youth to fire HH and the UPND in this year’s August election.
