President Hakainde Hichilema has expressed great concern at the manner guns are being used in the Country.
The president says it is sad people are losing lives cos some individuals are abusing guns in the country.
Speaking at the funeral Church Service of the late former cabinet minister Lt. Gen. Ronnie Shikapwasha who was allegedly shot by his wife the president disclosed that he has directed the Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security and the Inspector General of Police to review the licencing systems of guns in the Country. He said reports of people going to social gatherings and other places with loaded guns are saddening and should be curbed.
The late Lt. Gen Ronnie Shikapwasha is being put to rest today and has been accorded a 15-gun salute.
He was allegedly shot by his wife at their residence in Lusaka’s Ibex Hill area last week. The police later issued a statement announcing the arrest and charge of his wife with murder.
